Course Name: Digital Art
Offered to: High School
Credits: 1/4
Description: Students will apply art elements and design principles in producing digital art work using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. This includes both photo manipulation and digital painting using PCs and pen tablets. Students will produce art for use on computer and for print. Objectives include developing proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, understanding basic concepts in Adobe Illustrator, and working with a printer to achieve frameable prints.

Course Name: Ceramics/Exploring Wood

Description:
Students will explore the basic processes of working with clay which includes preparing clay, hand building, throwing on a potters wheel, slab building and various glazing techniques. Students will also explore how clay-crafters around the world have built up a body of ceramics knowledge from experience, and how that knowledge and experience has a bearing on how clay-crafters work today. Also the class will explore basic woodworking techniques such as carving, scroll saw, and woodturning. Our community is blessed with many retired master woodworkers, and we hope to invite many of them in as visiting artists.

Description:
These students will explore and analyze the various tools, techniques and processes of drawing and color composition. The first half of the trimester will be spent on drawing processes and techniques, while the second part of the trimester will be spent on color theory and painting techniques.
