Academy’s Studio Subscription Series
2010-2011 Season
The Freeman Academy Studio Subscription Series for 2010-2011 is going to be exciting and fresh! Our performers come from various parts of the country: California, Kansas, Ohio, Missouri and South Dakota. The season will once again feature five performances throughout the school calendar year.
Our opening act will feature the Public Domain Tune Band on Sunday, September 26 at 3:00 pm in Pioneer Hall. The band, consisting of guitar, violin, and bass will feature music from the early days of radio broadcasting and recording.
On Monday November 8th at 7:30 pm, all the way from California, Saxophobia, with Robert Verdi, will treat us with his knowledge of saxophones along with a variety of sizes of saxophones! This concert will also feature the Freeman Academy concert band playing arrangements of Mr. Verdi’s.
Tony Brown, based out of Hesston College in Kansas, will share with us Sunday, January 30th at 3:00 pm. Mr. Brown is an international promoter of peace and a citizen of the world. He uses music as a tool to bring people together across the many divides that separate us.
Anne Waltner, Mary Waltner & Tim Waltner, siblings, join together to present an evening of varied music styles on Saturday, April 30 at 7:30 pm. The siblings will present a classical flavor for the first half and a more contemporary flavor for the second half of the program. Tim, Anne and Mary Waltner are FA alumni.
Saturday, May 14th , 7:30 pm will feature Amanda Petefish-Schrag and her one-woman drama “Super Girls”. It’s not easy being a supergirl - particularly in the middle of Nebraska. In this one-woman play, four characters share the trials of love and superbattles on the Midwestern plains. Through the stories of Ultragirl, the stalwart second-in-command; The Honeybee, the impetuous teenager; Harrier, the superhero turned villain; and Susan, Captain Nebraska’s wife, the play explores what superhero comics leave out and the things that comics get right. Amanda is the daughter in law of Phyllis and Larry Schrag.
A season ticket for an adult is $48; a single concert entrance fee is $12. A non-FA student season ticket (K-12) is $18; a single concert student fee is $6. As in the past, Freeman Academy students receive free admission. For additional information please call Amy Hofer Vetch at 605-925-4237 Ext. 240.
