Projects Sterling Hall Annual Fund Volunteering
Sterling Hall
Although work on Sterling Hall is finished, our fund-raising efforts for the activity center and a new maintenance building are not. Generous individuals like you made gifts and pledges totaling $1.9 million to help fund these important projects on Freeman Academy’s campus. Loans from local financial institutions and the United States Department of Agriculture were utilized to meet our construction payment schedules and cover the remaining construction costs.
Approximately $600,000 remains on the principal. Until our construction loans are paid in full, Freeman Academy will need to make annual loan payments in the amount of $75,000 for fifteen years. The Sterling Hall Fund Raising Committee is hopeful that we can retire the debt well before the contract deadline, thus saving interest expense. The committee continues to visit with individuals, explore grant opportunities and implement other activities to raise the needed funds.
The class of 1975 has initiated a gift in memory of classmate Isaac Waltner. Donations accumulated will provide an opportunity to contribute a larger total gift. Anyone who would like to share in that venture should contact Debra Schmeichel at 605-648-3430 or 28439 449th Ave., Hurley, SD 57036.
In order to pay off the loan as soon as possible we ask you to prayerfully consider making an additional pledge or gift that will help our school retire the construction debt, thereby saving money on interest payments.
