Join the festivities at the 3rd Annual Ribs at the Ranch on Saturday, June 26 on the Freeman Academy Campus! A variety of activities have been added to this year’s event to appeal to both young and old. Bring out the family for an evening of food and fun!
Begin the day by participating in the “Running of the Pigs” in the Prairie Arboretum beginning with registration at 7:30 a.m. and races at 8:30 a.m. Every participant will receive a free t-shirt. More info to follow!
The Car Show registration runs from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and cars will be displayed from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Contact Don Kaufman at 464-0042. A tractor drive is also being organized. Check for details with Maurice Waltner at 660-3092.
The main event is our rib cook-off in the Pioneer Hall Parking Lot. They will begin cooking early in the afternoon with serving from 4:30-9:00 p.m. Visitors to their cooking stations are welcome at any time during the day.
Guests will be served ribs directly from the individual cooks. When arriving at the serving area, guests will be able to purchase tickets at a central location to be used at the various food vendors and amusements.
Musical entertainment and kids’ activities are still in the planning stages. The Freeman Academy Auxiliary’s Bi-Annual Quiltfest is being held in conjunction with “Ribs.” More info on that event will be posted soon.
Don’t miss the announcement of the winner of the “Kiss the Pig” contest at 8:30 p.m. which will benefit the Freeman Community Foundation! There will be opportunity to “vote” with coins, cash or checks until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25 at the Freeman banks, Bob’s Jamboree, Freeman Shopping Center, and Fred Haar Co.
