Student Websites
Students in the Web Design Class at FA have links posted to the websites they designed using xhtml, css, and Microsoft Expression Web 3. These can be viewed on the Student Websites Page.
The FA Freshmen Computer Class has also completed a unit on html coding and css web design. Examples of some students' websites can be viewed by going to the Student Websites Page.

MCC Essay Contest Winners
In the Regional Contest, Kieran Waltner placed first, Molly Boese won the second place award, and Sara Brockmueller placed third. These students moved to the National contest along with Vanessa Hofer, Skyler Newcomb, Liz Young, and Lindsay Waltner. Lindsay Waltner's Essay, "Life or Death," was given Honorable Mention at the National level. To read these essays, go to the English page.
Sara Brockmueller named 2009 Academic All-Star
Each year the Argus Leader features the top seniors of the region. Sara Brockmueller, daughter of Marilyn and Lee Brockmueller, was chosen as one of 12 students who will appear in the April 12, 2009 Argus Leader Special Feature. Quiz Bowl
In their first Quiz Bowl competition ever, Freeman Academy's Jr. High Quiz Bowl team took third place at the 1st Tri-Valley Conference Quiz Bowl. Members of the team are: Christopher Miller, Caroline Schrag, Noah Yoder, and Chelsea Wentz, all 8th graders.
This is the first JH Quiz Bowl competition sponsored by the TVC. There were 4 of the 8 teams participating: Freeman Academy, Alcester-Hudson, Baltic and Gayville-Volin. Quiz Bowl is an academic competition where a team of 4 students are asked questions based on general academic knowledge. At the JH level, each round consists of 20 questions. Teams are awarded a point for each correct answer and the winner of each round receives 5 bonus points. At the end of the competition, the team with the most points is declared the winner. Freeman Academy won 2 of the 3 rounds and tied the 3rd.
New Staff at FA
Former drama instructor Bernie Koller will be joining the Freeman Academy staff for the 2008-2009 2nd trimester. Koller, who has directed several Schmeckfests, will be the drama instructor for FA's One Act Play course. She is married to Dennie Koller.
Pastor Todd Jones joined FA's staff as coach of a very successful oral interpretation team. The team went all the way to the state competition, bringing home numerous superiors and excellents. Pastor Todd is the pastor at Hutterthal Mennonite Church. He is married to Kim and has three children: Hannah, age 5, and twins Felicity and Nathaniel - age 2.
We welcome Bonnie Young to the Freeman Academy staff. She will be joining the administrative team at Freeman Academy as enrollment director, effective immediately. Bonnie's husband, Jim, is a dermatologist in Yankton where they make their home. Their daughter, Elizabeth, is a senior at Freeman Academy.
